Black's classification
Cavity/restoration classification There are several classifications of cavities in the dental literature attempting to correlate site, size of lesion, and disease activity. The oldest, simplest, and probably most universal in acceptance is Black's classification.

It is based on caries lesions now often misused by dentists as a purely descriptive analysis of restoration site
